Professional Career Fact file –

2001 – Signs for FC Dallas (then known as Dallas Burn) in second round of the 2001 MLS SuperDraft.

2002 – Plays 11 games for Dallas before an ankle injury ends Johnson’s season prematurely.

2003 – Plays for US national youth team in the 2003 World Youth Championships, finishing top scorer.

2004 – Scores first goal and receives first cap for senior US national team against El Savador and scores a hat-trick in his second appearance for national team.

2005 – Scores two goals for national team in final game of World Cup qualifying.

2006 – Joins Kansas City Wizards and plays for the national team at the World Cup finals in Germany.

2007 – Scores back-to-back hat-tricks for the Wizards and turns down an offer to play for Derby County in the English Premier League in order to complete the MLS season with the Wizards.

2008 – Finally joins the English Premier League when he signs for Fulham FC in January.
