Galaxy still on the hunt

The Galaxy enjoyed a welcome win at the Home Depot Center on Sunday, beating the Colorado Rapids 3-2 to take them within four points of the playoff places.
Edson Buddle struck first for the Galaxy with a low drive in the 36th minute, but the lead was short-lived as the Rapids hit back with a Cory Gibbs header just before half-time.
It took an own-goal from the Rapids to turn the tide once again in the Galaxy’s favour, when Bryan Jordan swung in a cross that Ugo Ihemelu got the unfortunate last touch on.
The Galaxy, missing captain David who was away on international duty, gave themselves breathing space in the 80th minute in spectacular fashion as Brandon McDonald hit a 35-yard shot, which flew in past Rapids ‘keeper Preston Burpo.
The away team were not quite beaten though and when Tom McManus scored a late penalty the Galaxy had to work extra hard in the dying moments to ensure the all important win!
